Here you will find a selection of my most frequently asked questions, along with my most frequently given answers!

Anywhere and everywhere. It’s a case of looking at life upside down and using a good dollop of imagination. Occasionally I go over to the dark side… but generally, I love the challenge to find humour in an otherwise ordinary situation.
“We are all united in embarrassment, who hasn’t been the girl with her skirt stuck in the back of her knickers or the chap who accidentally splashes the front of his trousers?”

I usually paint straight onto canvas with oils, maybe a few doodles first but tend not to sketch out the painting first because it usually evolves into something totally different anyway. Normally I spend between one and three weeks from start to finish, skinny people take up a lot less canvas but these are more intricate and complicated to paint. Overall I finish around 30 pieces a year.

This one never gets any easier to answer, so without getting too bogged down in all those eating disorder issues, I just think it would be jolly nice if we could be a bit less harsh on ourselves and each other and occasionally enjoy a guilt free doughnut. With cream.

I could say that he is sort of self portrait but that would be a slight exaggeration because he’s got more currants than me. I suppose he is a little autobiographical but mainly he is another artists tool like my devils and angels. He seems so innocent so we want to protect him, but he can be very naughty and we like to be shocked. He represents us all and the way we are.

There are so many things… people, places, artists, all the usual suspects but, if I had to name names, my top 10 might include: Picasso, Spike Milligan, Stanley Spencer, Henry Moore, LS Lowry, Monty Python, Heath Robinson, Father Ted, Michael Sowa, ...I could go on but I think you get the picture…

Difficult to choose as this is always changing but I am very fond of ‘foolish little biscuit‘ and ‘piggy-aggios’ (see gallery)

I have recently been dabbling in sculpture again, however it is a bit messy and I keep injuring myself. So, if no-one minds, I may get back to the easel. People frequently ask me if I would like a change or a break from what I do, but the work is always evolving anyway, so for the foreseeable future, I am more than happy to continue indulging my artistic whims and fancies…
The paintings have been produced as limited edition prints, cards, stationery, jigsaws, models and recently, Royal Worcester ceramic tableware. There is also a book, ‘Infatuation’ which is a good place to go if you are after any further information about yours truly.

However, due to the nature of limited edition prints, we only ever have a very limited number of certain copies. While we will do our best to obtain a particular print, many have been sold out for a long time and have become extremely rare.
In the event we cannot supply a print we will try and connect you to other galleries that may have stock.
I am making available a very restricted number of my personal print copies for sale. Some of these have long been sold out from the publisher so I may have a copy of something you are looking for. Click to see available prints
Fancy your espresso from a Sarah-Jane design? Earlier this year Royal Worcester launched a range of ceramic pieces featuring my fatties and skinnies, these are available through limited outlets including John Lewis. We have some images here for you to see the range.
